  1. Brighton Adventure and Fun of September

    September 28, 2011 by cat

At the beginning of the month I took Kian away to Brighton for a little adventure. I went to see Amanda Fucking Palmer and Kian went to see a client.

When we went to see AFP we also saw Bitter Ruin. Georgia blew me away with her strong yet delicate voice. Bitter Ruin happen to have a single coming out next week.

Kian and I stayed over at the Royal Albion and on our day off, before coming home, went to Brighton’s aquarium. The sea turtles were amazing in size (27st and as big as my coffee table). (Yes, we took Captain Jack to see his cousin…)

Since getting back from Brighton I have been doing my training at The Lowry in Salford. It is a wonderful theatre. In the last month I have seen I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue (the stage version, not recording), The Unthanks, Dancing Shoes and today was Top Hat (it’s on until the 8th October and is a great musical). All have been thoroughly entertaining. Of the 12 shifts that I have to complete “shadowing” I have now done 8. I’ve got 2 more to do in the Lyric (the large theatre) and 2 more in the Quays (the medium theatre) before I become a a “full” VIP (I’ll get a red shirt, jumper and name tag!).

This month has been busy. Looking forward to October.

  2. BarCamp Nottingham

    July 29, 2011 by cat

Just a few photos from last weekend’s BarCamp Nottingham. Ruby-Gem was doing a great job of looking sexy (also a great host as always)! As always wonderful to see friends and meet new folk! Good intro to Lace Making by Liz (HackSpace Nottingham member).

Nottingham hackspace is wonderful – great mix of workshops, social space and open spaces too. Thank you for having us and my masses of wool!

Also a big thank you to all of the sponsors – North 51, Esendex, The University of Nottingham Computer Science Department and The Brookson Enterprise Freelance Fair. Without them the event would never happen.

  3. Elegance Scarf

    July 29, 2011 by cat

As promised (for Mum and a few other folks..) I have some pretty photos of my Elegance Scarf, designed by Anniken Allis. I picked up the wool and pattern at WoolFest2011

I took them last weekend at BarCamp Nottingham with Lally modelling. I hope you all agree she does a wonderful job!

  5. DigitFest 2011

Last weekend was DigitFest 2011. I was there as a steward – helping to cat herding visitors to various events and joining in activities that I would never have done without it.

I drew on iPads. I painted with light (well I’ve done that before..). I saw Holotronica. I enjoyed beatboxing. I danced. I laughed. I met new people.

  6. Walnut

    April 6, 2011 by cat

A few weeks ago Walnut was being somewhat distant after I took a series of photographs of her in a box (she likes being in boxes and seemed to enjoy it while it was going on). She goes through phases of liking me or not, same with Kian, but on this day I went from being loved to She Who Must Not Be Named. Well I rather liked these – especially since she normally rolls around and makes it terribly difficult to take photographs of her..

  7. Mitch Benn Revisited

    April 6, 2011 by cat

This is another from the series I took at Mitch Benn’s Ninjagig from a couple of weekends ago. Just thought I’d share it. Found it while looking through trying to cheer myself up (currently a little unwell).

  8. Mitch Benn – #ninjamitch

    March 27, 2011 by cat

This afternoon I couldn’t get tickets to see Mitch Benn playing while in Manchester. This was the third time he would have come to Manchester and I would have missed him. I, well, tweeted about my sulkiness about it.

Mitch tweeted back to Kian re:our lack of tickets offering to do a gig in our living room before his gig this evening. So, it was on. We started phoning around and tweeting about a gig at our house. Eventually it was confirmed at being put on at King’s Arms in Salford at 8pm.

Grabbed a little brother and friends. Got some dinner and headed on a Salford direction.

Once we arrived we had a chin wag with Mitch. Many, many friends arrived and got a few drinks, then the silliness and fun began.

Sean Fisher got a twitvid of “I’m Proud of the BBC”

At the end of the night I got a hug from Mitch and assurances that next time he’d play in my living room.

  9. Free Portrait Sessions

    February 9, 2011 by cat

As I said on Twitter today I’m offering free portrait sessions for a few weeks to build up my portrait portfolio. There will be free a A4 print in it for you (further prints can be bought). We can get together at practically anytime atm – days/evenings/weekends. Contact me for an appointment.

And for some good fun here are some photographs I’ve been playing with today.

New hair – my hair is really magenta..

I’ve also been playing with old photographs again.
